In 2020 the Hastings Intermediate School Board adopted the Government Donation Scheme, receiving approximately $150 per pupil from the government.

There are still areas where the school can request payment in order for events to take place, examples include transport, food, accommodation.

Technology fees are requested for the take-home component of technology programmes.

A donation is requested to support overnight school camps and trips.

Optional activities such as musical instrument tuition and extra-curricular sport have fees associated with the activity.

While no child can be disadvantaged, learning programmes may not be able to go ahead if there is not a sufficient financial contribution from whānau.
